Opleiding
He studied economics at the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany from 1993 to 1998 with majors in industrial economics and econometrics. In the year 1998 he took a position as a research fellow at the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) at Mannheim (Germany). In 2004 he obtained the Dr. rer. pol. from the University of Duisburg-Essen. He spent a post-doc year at the University of California at Berkeley during 2004.
Onderzoeksinteresses
His research interests are mainly in the field of the economics of innovation with a focus on applied microeconometrics. The lines of research address topics such as the evaluation of public innovation policies, corporate governance and innovation, the valuation of intellectual assets, as well as knowledge and technology transfer. Recently he got increasingly interested in topics of academic entrepreneurship as one particularly intriguing link between science and industry.
