In this research project, the researchers provide empirically substantiated insights ton support policy to stimulate student entrepreneurship in Flanders.

The project consists of the following components:

  1. Mapping entrepreneurial activities and intentions: By collecting and analyzing data from the Global University Entrepreneurial Spirit Students’ Survey (GUESSS) project, the researchers gain a detailed understanding of the entrepreneurship landscape among Flemish higher education students, including the types of activities undertaken and the motivations behind their entrepreneurial ambitions.

  2. Development of a unique Flemish Student Entrepreneurship Panel Database: This dataset enables the formulation of long-term policies to foster (student) entrepreneurship, taking into account the evolving entrepreneurial activities of Flemish students. It provides a robust evidence base for policymakers to adapt strategies to the changing dynamics of the student entrepreneurship landscape.

  3. International benchmarking: By comparing the entrepreneurial activities and intentions of Flemish higher education students with international data from the GUESSS data collection project, the researchers gain valuable insights into Flanders' relative position on a global scale. This benchmarking enables the identification of areas requiring improvement and the formulation of internationally aligned policy measures.
