The FRIS research portal visualises metadata on research, which are received from the internal databases of various information providers (universities, strategic research centres, ...) in Flanders. In order to display the data correctly and thus qualitatively, it is crucial that information providers uniformly understand and use the semantics of the delivered metadata. Increased data quality also impacts the potential purposes of using the FRIS data, for instance in the context of reporting purposes, parliamentary questions, etc. ECOOM-Hasselt focuses on the one hand on developing and governing metadata and semantics regarding research funding, research equipment, research datasets and university rankings. In addition, ECOOM-Hasselt will also evaluate the data flows and concepts from various reporting obligations in 2019 in order to develop a more efficient and uniform reporting of research information.
